This is a poem I wrote for Alexander which I read out at the Snowdrop Remembrance Service today. I miss Alexander so much. I will always wonder where he is but every now and again, there's a reminder that he is always there. I love my two boys so, so, so much..
Where are you my little one?
My warm golden ray of Sun.
Another Autumn has passed,
Halloween costumes and sweets,
Pretty fireworks fill the sky,
But the colours should be brighter,
And the noise louder.
Where are you, Alexander?
Where are you my little one?
My warm golden ray of Sun.
The trees are getting bare,
The cold frost is here.
Fires crackle louder,
But the ice is not cold and the fires do not warm.
Christmas is coming,
But a present is always missing.
Where are you my little one?
My warm golden ray of Sun.
Spring will be following,
Flowers are budding and the sky is clear,
The air is full of promise and the days are longer.
I want to see the galaxy though the clouds,
But promises are empty and clear skies are not blue,
Which one of the stars is you?
Where are you my little one?
My warm golden ray of Sun.
Summer follows Spring,
The water is warm and the sand is dry,
Sun lotion, paddling pools and ice cream,
Everything should be perfect,
But the water feels cold and the warm sand is too hot.
My body is on holiday but my mind is not.
Where are you my little one?
My warm golden ray of Sun.
I don’t know where you are,
I can’t see you but you’re there.
Soft golden rays perfectly bright and warm
Like the gentle Winter’s Sun or Summer’s evening.
Reminding me, you’re there little one,
My warm golden ray of Sun.
